Your Journey to a Fulfilling Life

High quality, standardised assessments for children and young people aged up to 18.

Our Purpose

SEN Assess Ltd provides high quality, standardised assessments for children and young people aged up to 18. The service is built on a commitment to accuracy, fairness and child centred practice, helping schools and families understand learners’ needs clearly and confidently.

Who We Are

The company is led by Chandra Wood, a qualified teacher and SENDCo with extensive experience across schools, safeguarding, multi agency working and specialist SEND leadership. Chandra holds:

Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) | NASENCO Award | Certificate of Competence in Educational Testing (CCET) | Registration on the RQTU (British Psychological Society)

These qualifications ensure that all assessments meet national standards for ethical testing, psychometric competence and professional conduct.

Our approach prioritises trust, engagement, and consistency, helping learners rebuild confidence in education at their own pace.

Assessments focus on identifying why a learner may be experiencing difficulty, ensuring that any recommended support is both appropriate and evidence-based.

Standardised Assessment and Evidence for Support

At SEN Assess Ltd, assessments are designed to provide a clear, evidence-based understanding of each learner’s individual profile. Using standardised, age-appropriate tools, we assess key areas such as reading accuracy, reading speed, comprehension, processing speed, working memory and other areas within language and SEMH.

  • Each assessment results in a detailed written report that:
  • Clearly explains strengths and areas of need
  • Interprets standardised scores in a parent-friendly way
  • Identifies any underlying barriers to learning
  • Provides practical, tailored recommendations

Where appropriate, reports can support schools in applying for reasonable adjustments in line with Joint Council for Qualifications (GCSEs) and Standards and Testing Agency (SATs) guidance, including:

  • Extra time
  • Reader or reading technology
  • Rest breaks
  • Support for processing or recording difficulties

Importantly, assessments focus on identifying why a learner may be experiencing difficulty, ensuring that any recommended support is both appropriate and evidence-based.

Testimonials

“We are incredibly grateful for the support and guidance provided during our son’s EHCP application. The process can feel overwhelming, but Chandra’s knowledge, professionalism, and reassurance made a significant difference.

Alongside this, the tutoring our son received was exceptional. Lessons were tailored to his needs, delivered with patience and understanding, and helped to build both his confidence and his academic skills. He is not a motivated learner but Chandra really got the best out of him.

What stood out most was the genuine care and commitment shown, not just to his progress, but to ensuring he felt supported and understood. I truly feel that her input has had a lasting positive impact on both his education and wellbeing.

I would wholeheartedly recommend Chandra’s services to any family navigating similar challenges.”
